Dave Brunsdon has recently received recognition for his efforts over the years in relation to the development of New Zealand’s lifelines engineering networks, urban search and rescue engineering capability and post-disaster building safety evaluation arrangements.

In December 2012, Dave received one of the inaugural Silver Civil Defence Awards from the then Minister of Civil Defence, the Honourable Chris Tremain.

In March 2013, he was elected as a Distinguished Fellow of the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand.

As well as recognising Dave’s contribution over an extended period of time in these and related fields, these awards acknowledge his extensive and continuing involvement in the recovery following the Canterbury earthquake.
